This first thing to say about Amelia Island is I love it. It’s such a wonderful place to relax with its casual, chilled vibe whilst on holiday in Florida.
Things I like:
- Stunning beaches
- Beautiful white sand
- Really relaxed atmosphere across the whole island
- The town centre of Ferdinand beach with its shops, bars and restaurants
- PJD’s garden bar (research it online)
- The people . Everyone was so friendly
- Cycling in the national park
Hampton Inn Hotel
We stayed at the Hampton Inn down town which was very convenient for everything. It’s got a large free car park and the room we had overlooked the fishing pier. Would definitely go there again.

The beaches are beautiful.

Fort Clinch State park is a great place to visit. The fort guards the island and provides a really good view of what life used to be like. You can hire bikes here also and cycle around. Well worth the money.
You may also be lucky enough to see Turtles on the beach!

PJD’s beer and wine Garden
I mentioned PJDs beer garden in the things I like. It’s a great place with live music just off the Main Street. Lots of locals and it closes at c 10pm which is great. Just a few yards away from the Hampton Inn. Do not miss it. Search on google and you will find it .

One of the places that is a must is The Palace Saloon on Main Street. It still has most of its original features and makes a refreshing stop in the heat of the Florida sun
